NECBC
President and CEO, Appointed to ACSUS Advisory Board |
|
|
Mr. Raymond is Senior Vice President for CGI in the greater Boston Region, located in Andover, MA. Founded in 1976, with headquarters in Montreal, Canada, CGI is among the largest independent information technology and business process services firms in North America. CGI and its affiliated companies employ approximately 25,000 professionals. CGI provides end-to-end IT and business process services to clients worldwide from offices in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific as well as from centers of excellence in India and Canada. Website: www.cgi.com. “ACSUS is pleased to connect in this way with the NECBC,” said George Sulzner, President, ACSUS. “The aligning of these two organizations will help to promote economic interaction between New England and Canada as well as add substantially to ACSUS’ goal of promoting knowledge and understanding about Canada in the United States.” “I am honored to be a part of an advisory council with these individuals that have not only been extremely successful in their own careers, but have also been instrumental in furthering the relations between the US and Canada,” said Paul Raymond, NECBC President and CEO. “Being a member of this advisory council will open the NECBC and both New England and Canada to tremendous opportunities to further trade and |
relations between the two countries. Very little locally is known about the incredibly strong and large trade that occurs between New England and Canada. Hopefully this will help to bring that to the forefront and get more local interest from both sides in considering conducting business in their neighbours’ country.” The New England-Canada Business Council, Inc. (NECBC) was formed in 1981 to bring together businesses and individuals with an interest in the relationship and, more specifically, New England-Canada political, business and cultural issues. Today, the Council's membership is composed of business leaders from a wide range of sectors including banking, law, consulting, energy, and high technology, as well as government and academic officials and individuals with links to Canada. Membership in the NECBC is open to all with an interest in stimulating the growth of New England-Canada ties. Website: www.necbc.org . About ACSUS ACSUS was formally established during a conference held at Duke University in 1971. Until 1975, the Association was managed through the Canadian Center at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of the Johns Hopkins University. Between 1975 and 1984, ACSUS was an affiliate of Meridian House International. In 1982, through the generous assistance of the Exxon Education Foundation, ACSUS established its secretariat in Washington, D.C., and in 1984, ACSUS became completely independent and relocated to the National Center for Higher Education; the relocation was due in part to the Association's rapid and dramatic growth and the assistance of the William H. Donner Foundation. After thirteen years at One Dupont Circle, ACSUS' sub-lease was terminated and the Association relocated to office space in the historic Sun Building in downtown Washington D.C. in February 1997. In 2004 ACSUS returned to Dupont Circle and is currently located in the Embassy Building in the heart of the neighborhood’s think tank community. Website: www.acsus.org . |

Shock and Awe “This blows our exercises away,” said 2nd Lt. (pronounced “Leftenant”) Matt Dawe, 8th platoon commander, C Company, 3rd Battalion, “the realism is, for lack of a better term, breathtaking.”
Dawe and the green warriors of the north took part in every event
tailored for U.S. Marine combat operations. From security and
stability operations to cordon and knock ops, the soldiers had their
boots on the ground and their rifles at the ready. |

Dallaire Now a Senator |
|
![]() As a soldier, Romeo Dallaire followed orders from government. Now, in his incarnation as a senator, he's looking forward to have a say in such orders. The 58-year-old retired general, who lost his mental equilibrium and eventually his military career to the horrors of the 1993-94 Rwandan genocide, was named to the Senate on Thursday by Prime Minister Paul Martin. Dallaire says he relishes the idea of getting inside government instead of preaching from outside. |
"That's one of the
fundamental reasons I accepted," he said in an interview. "Now I've
been given an opportunity to get into entrails of government in caucus
and the like.
"Hopefully, I'll be able to bring a more specific influence into decisions that are being taken."

| The eVERITAS electronic Newsletter reaches over 5,000 readers . It is a service provided by the RMC Club for Members in good standing with current addresses in the data base. It is designed to provide timely information on current events at RMC and to keep Members "connected". Occasionally, it will be distributed to non-members to entice them to join or renew their membership. Membership information is available at www.rmcclub.ca Newsworthy articles from national or local papers that may not have been available to the majority of our readers may be reproduced in e-VERITAS. We will also publish articles in either official language as submitted by Cadets and Staff, on "current life" at RMC. Other short “human interest stories" about Cadets, Ex-Cadets, Alumni and current and former Staff at the College will appear from time-to-time. Readers of e-VERITAS are encouraged to submit articles in either official language to william.oliver@rmc.ca. In particular, up-to-date “Where are they now?” articles on Ex-Cadets, Alumni and current and former Staff would be most welcome.
eVERITAS
is intended as a supplement and not a replacement of Veritas, the
highly popular magazine of the RMC Club printed and distributed three
times a year to Members by mail.
